Dust2 First-Contact Altitude Ledger: Long Doors Seam, Mid Box Edge, and Who Gets Legal Pixels First

BO1 prep on Dust2 is less about default smokes and more about three-lane first contacts—long doors phase, mid thickness, and CT angle height—each with its own legal pixel window before full body exposure.

Why the map is decided before the sites

On Dust2, rounds often turn on first contact rhythm, not the plant. Long is not a straight corridor; mid is not a single rectangle. Under the same default, CT and T do not share the same legal pixel windows at the door seam, box edges, and angle elevations—they are half a beat apart.

Long: two-stage door axis and CT A-angle low-read high-fire

Long first fights get reduced to “peek the gap,” but live play is two segments: outer frame color read, inner shadow, plus phase lag between CT hugging wall and T strafing. After CS2 updates, T more often wins the strafe half-window—shoulder line crosses the hinge before the full body exits, crosshair already on CT angle or short box edge. CT still pre-aiming gap center feels like T shoots before they “exist.”

Prep ledger: track long as door-axis tick accounting, not distance. T logs three beats—left-wall pre-aim height, strafe past axis, second beat flash debt. CT logs two—half-step back from angle still covering gap, short-box trade vs mid retake cost. CT angle favors low-read high-fire: T shoulder lights first, full CT body later; first shot skews T unless CT props narrow the axis to a slit.

Mid: box-edge cuts and who pays mid-door thickness

Mid value sits on box edges and connector cuts, not the door slab. T usually buys one step behind mid box thickness—read mid open/closed and whether CT is pressuring B tunnel. CT mid push bets T’s second beat flips A long or B short. Full close vs half-open mid shifts debt to A long or B hole vs forcing connector/B backup—otherwise mid becomes a one-way first kill.

Note mid as thickness first contact: whoever anchors on the box edge owes a rotate debt. T info-only mid stacks long debt; CT mid push without connector sync loses the half-beat on A retake to T hall diagonal. Prep chain: mid read → connector presence → long flash spent—missing one slot, play the losing default; don’t dry duel mid.

Reconcile angles: one pre-aim height cannot sweep three lanes

The common misplay is one pre-aim height for the whole map. Long wants hinge shoulder line; mid wants box-edge cut; B tunnel and late rounds add ramp and boost altitude. Version drift is not map size talk—it is same tile, desynced audio vs lit surfaces—CT hears T hugging wall while T sees angle already on short box.

Ledger rule: each lane states who gets legal pixels first, who shows full silhouette second. Default pistols and force half-windows hang on this book, not a universal counter-strafe.

Major-week close

If BO1 lands Dust2, skip smoke name memorization. Three pages—long door axis, mid box edge, CT angle step-back—until you can call half-window vs full commit to teammates. Swapping skins on C5GAME or the Steam Market does not change the ledger; patience to drill three pre-aims on one map does.
