Inferno Pit Lip Blocks and Library Retake Lines: Three Utility Ledgers When Banana Commits to B

Pro-side Inferno B takes hinge on who owns the pit lip first—not on memorizing set smokes. This piece breaks down the banana push sequence, post-plant CT routing through library, and three repeatable drill lines for pit sovereignty versus plant control.

The Half-Beat Before First Contact

On Inferno, banana fights rarely die on raw aim alone. They stall in the beat where Ts have pit lip, but CTs still have not decided whether to give up first touch. The B plant zone is not flat: pit floor, pit lip, and short box stack three vertical layers. Utility lines that only store coordinates, without tracking who holds the block first, produce the classic bad trade—smoke blooms, bodies still swap on the ramp.

Pit-Lip Smoke: Ramp Sovereignty, Not a Circle on the Map

When banana commits, the first smoke should kill the CT sightline from spawn / triple toward pit lip, not paint the whole lane shut. In default pro setups, the block’s outer edge sits in the narrow gap between pit and short box. CTs hugging inside the pit often must wait the smoke out or flash for a re-peek; Ts park first body at the back edge of ramp top, then desync with one flash—burst height where CTs pre-aim the lip, while the player slices from smoke edge so the duel drops from wide to half-wide.

The second piece is usually molly or HE inside the pit. Fire does not need to carpet the floor—only deny the step-out path for CTs trying to re-aggress from below. HE lands short-box back edge to force a release or a reposition. Order is non-negotiable: block first, force second, confirm fire near plant last. Molly the pit before the block, and CTs still tax banana from spawn sightlines; the lane devolves into a 1v1 toll booth again.

CT Retake After a Downstairs Plant: Library’s Two-Beat Window

After a default plant, CT retake is not a straight pit charge. It is two beats inside the library–triple–spawn triangle. Beat one: spawn-side flash or HE probes for a pit body. Beat two: swing from library angle and molly short-box back to clear the defuse pocket. Ts holding post-plant should pre-write the ledger: post-plant smoke (spawn line), pit-lip refresh (anti fast ramp), library mouth fire (delay the corner peek).

Refresh timing tracks plant offset. Plant hugging short box pushes CT weight through library; plant deep in pit raises spawn fast-push value. The same four-piece set should move the second smoke’s landing, not repeat one anchor. In late round, a lone CT smoke often wins more from library mouth block than a deep spawn smoke—Ts default their torso axis on the lip, and library is the last free info angle.

Drill Sheet: Collapse Banana–Pit–Plant into Three Lines

In a custom lobby, lock three recordings: ramp block + lip flash (does CT still pre-aim inside pit?), post-plant eight-second triple (post smoke, library fire, spawn HE each once), CT 5v4 default retake (no opening pick—who peeks library first). Each line logs only two facts: where you are when the first utility pops, and which window line CT’s first shot came from. Banana into downstairs B is trading ramp sovereignty for plant title; when the ledger is right, fights stop being “who flicked faster” and become who paid one fewer crossing fee.
