Introduction
FAMAS skins live in that awkward lane: you pull one out on eco rounds and mid-game pivots, so the finish has to read fast without screaming for attention. Halftone Wash (internal ht_splash_famas) treats the gun like a print mock-up—blue and gray halftone dots stacked into splash shapes. From across the map it looks tidy; in inspect view you get that poster grain instead of metal gloss.
Release & where it drops
October 2, 2024, tied to The Armory wave, filed under Graphic Design Collection. Valve-authored, no workshop credit—same family as the other flat-design drops.

Official blurb stays minimal: custom paint job of blue and gray halftone splashes. Halftone breaks gradients into dots; splashes add motion. Gray anchors, blue lifts—cool palette that suits FAMAS’s long handguard and flat receiver panels. Spray-paint finish pushes a poster / print vibe, not lacquered steel.
Flavor line: Even the calmest waters can be stirred in an instant—no literal water art, but the low-wear vs high-wear story sells “still → sudden ripple” in your head.
What to check in-game
- Inspect, don’t trust the thumbnail. FAMAS has fewer dead zones than some rifles; see how splashes sit on handguard, receiver, and stock. Balance matters more than a single hero screenshot.
- Float 0.00–0.50 is a real shopping band. Cap isn’t crazy, but halftone hates scratches—light wear can feel more “washed” and on-theme; mint floats keep edges crisp if you want the graphic intact. Mid-float can be the sweet spot for faded print energy.
- Set building. Uncommon slot in Graphic Design—cheap anchor piece if you’re completing the theme, then step up to rarer siblings later.
Filter on C5GAME or Steam Community Market by collection + wear tier; blue/gray ratio shifts a lot between listings.
Shopping verdict
Buy if: you want a non-military FAMAS that still feels restrained, you’re starting a Graphic Design set, or you like halftone / print aesthetics on a budget uncommon.
Pass or pause if: you need a flex piece—this is quiet by design—or you can’t be bothered to inspect pattern placement; a bad roll looks lopsided fast.
Price sanity: uncommon + collection-bound usually keeps entry reasonable; you’re paying for look and set slot, not rarity hype.
Editor’s aside
I keep one mid-float copy purely because halftone dots change personality under different lighting in inspect—calm at first glance, then you notice the splatter crept onto the stock. That’s the whole skin: economy gun, graphic design homework. Not every round needs a dragon; sometimes you just want a FAMAS that looks like it fell out of a zine.
