Introduction
Freehand (internal id am_marked_up) is a universal CS2 knife finish: display name knife | Freehand, Rare rarity, multicolor anodized craft. The hero image uses the Falchion so you get a feel for proportions on a guide page—the same finish rolls onto other knife models, so always inspect on your target shape in-game or on Steam and C5GAME before committing.
Valve’s one-line pitch holds up: black and purple base with metal symbol decoration. This is not a loud neon gradient skin—the dark purple ground carries the symbols, and multicolor anodizing adds light–shadow separation when you rotate in inspect.
Release
2021-09-21, same day as Operation Riptide. If you collect by update batch, treat that date as the skin’s launch anchor.
Designer
Valve (official, not a Workshop author)—what you see in market listings should match in-game art.
Specs at a glance
| | |
|---|---|
| Category | knife |
| Finish | Freehand |
| Rarity | Rare |
| Craft | Multicolor anodized |
| Float | 0.0 ~ 0.48 |
A 0.48 wear cap means the full range from clean to heavily worn is fair game. Rare tier is usually easier to reach than top-tier knife finishes—Freehand fits Falchion loadouts where you want symbol language on a dark base, not rarity flex alone.
What to check on inspect
Color: Does black–purple sit with your gloves, wrap, and loadout? Symbols should stay readable on the dark ground.
Symbols + anodizing: Spin the knife—watch symbol continuity across faces and how anodizing catches edges. Static screenshots lie.
Wear tier: Near 0.0, symbol edges tend to look sharper; as float climbs, symbols and base soften together; toward 0.48 the whole piece reads darker and more aged. Pick the “weathering” you actually like instead of defaulting to lowest float.
Cross-model pricing: On Steam and C5GAME, the same finish often trades at different prices and hype per knife. If the Falchion preview sold you on the look, decide whether to keep that silhouette or pay another model to carry Freehand.
Shop verdict
Freehand is a complete, low-key official knife skin: black–purple plus metal symbols, Rare and multicolor anodized, full float band. Strong pick if you want a readable symbol motif on a dark knife without chasing Covert drama—verify knife model and float in inspect, then compare listings on C5GAME and Steam.
Editor’s notes
Riptide nostalgia buyers sometimes overpay for “event-era” tags; the skin itself is straightforward—value is mostly knife type + float + symbol placement on your blade. Falchion Freehand is a common first stop because the preview matches; if symbols land awkward on another knife, no amount of discount fixes that. When in doubt, spend five minutes in inspect before you cart.
