Introduction

Forest DDPAT is the in-game name for the shared knife finish hy_ddpat. Promo art uses the Paracord Knife, but the same pattern wraps every knife model—only the mesh and UV layout change how those pixels bend and break.

Finish type is hydrographic, rarity Common, wear 0.06–0.80. Valve’s line about noticing the pixel grid “too late” is the whole vibe: up close you read blocks; at distance it melts into a dull green-brown woodland camo. No glossy panels, no loud accents—this is a stealth loadout skin.

Release & where it drops

Live since 18 November 2019 with Shattered Web. Same period as Shattered Web Case and Fracture Case entering drop and unbox pools. On Steam Community Market and C5GAME, listings are still mostly sorted by wear tier—FN through BS—because the float band is huge.

Designer & pattern family

Valve authored it. Forest DDPAT sits in the broader DDPAT family under one internal id (hy_ddpat). Swap knife types and the camo language stays; only curvature and seam placement differ.

Cases

Unbox from Shattered Web Case or Fracture Case, or skip RNG and buy the exact knife model + float you want on the secondary market.

Wear & inspect checklist

  • Low float: pixel cells stay sharper; still muted, not neon.
  • High float: spine and edges pick up base metal—camo reads “faded field kit.”
  • Knife model matters: spin inspect on blade face and handle joint; stretch and hard cuts vary a lot between, say, Paracord vs Butterfly.
  • Compare tiers side by side: lightly played vs well-worn shows how much texture survives abrasion.

Shopping verdict

Buy if you want a cheap, theme-consistent camo knife that doesn’t scream in third person, and you’re fine tuning model + float instead of chasing a rare pattern.

Skip or downgrade wear if you need a centerpiece—Common DDPAT won’t flex like fades or Doppler; spend the budget on a shape you love at Field-Tested or Well-Worn and save FN tax unless pixels matter to you.

Before checkout: match exact wear number and knife identifier on C5GAME listing photos to the in-game inspect—not the thumbnail alone.

Expert muttering

I treat Forest DDPAT as the “background character” of knife finishes: never the headline, always coherent in a green loadout. The 0.80 ceiling means bargain BS floats exist, but the sweet spot for readability is often mid-tier—you see camo without paying for microscopic float OCD. On C5, filter by knife first; the same finish on a less hyped blade is frequently the best yuan-per-vibe. If your eyes glaze over in inspect, you’ve already understood the design intent.
