Introduction
Doppler on knives is one of those finishes you recognize from across the map: black and silver marble streaks under a glossy “candy” topcoat. It reads calm at distance and busy up close—and the in-game flavor line about looks being deceiving fits the vibe.
Release snapshot
Finish am_doppler_phase3 (catalog 420) landed 2015-01-08 with the Chroma Case and Full Spectrum update. Among early Doppler phases, that date matters when you line up prices on C5GAME or Steam: older phase, long trading history, lots of inventory churn.
Where it drops
Same rollout as Chroma Case (幻彩武器箱)—unbox, trades, and marketplace listings. Whether the case still drops that finish follows current game rules; your buy path is almost always secondary market.
What you’re buying
- Slot: Knife
- Finish: Doppler
- Rarity: Mythical
- Style: Multicolor electroplating
- Wear band: 0.00–0.08 only
The plating throws light differently as you spin the inspect; most deals cluster at the top of the float range because the cap is tight. Even small scratches move how “clean” the blade reads.
Being fooled by its appearance can have severe consequences
Shop checklist
Inspect, inspect, inspect. Doppler lives and dies on pattern seed. Same float, different template—totally different knife face.
With only 0.08 max wear, “almost FN” and “true FN” can be separated by tiny decimals. Price the number, not the label, and check whether the center of the blade stays clean.
On C5GAME, filter low float first, then zoom on tip and blood groove edges. Cross-check Steam Community Market listings so you don’t pay Phase 3 money for a different phase name.
Buyer verdict
Worth it if you want a classic Chroma-era Doppler without chasing the loudest phase hype—but only after in-game inspect and float/pattern confirmation. Skip listings that hide wear or blur inspect shots.
Editor’s notes
Phase 3 often trades softer than the flashier siblings, which makes it a sensible “first Doppler knife” tier—until someone lists a scratched 0.07 like a gem. Keep a screenshot of your inspect; resale buyers will ask for the same angles.
