Introduction

Arid sits on the Sport Gloves line as one of the glove category’s Extraordinary finishes. Valve leaned into layered browns and a quiet camo print so the pair reads dignified and grounded rather than loud—ideal if you want a military-adjacent loadout that still feels wearable day to day. Because gloves show up constantly in third-person, on the scoreboard wrap-up, and in highlight reels, Arid is the sort of skin you notice less at first and appreciate more over time: practical, not flashy for flash’s sake.

The same brown stack and soft camo give the gloves a premium, composed silhouette even at a glance.

Release date

28 November 2016, shipped with the Brothers In Arms update—the same day the Glove Case went live. That drop marks the early CS glove ecosystem; for many veterans, market memory starts with this generation, and Arid is firmly in that first-wave bracket.

Designer

Valve designed and implemented the finish in-house. Material handling and glove silhouette match contemporary Sport Gloves releases; what separates Arid is chiefly palette and surface graphic, executed in a clean, first-party style without third-party artist credit on the card.

Source case

Obtainable from the Glove Case.

What defines the skin

Weapon class: Sport Gloves. Finish name: Arid. Visually it tracks earth tones and military camo—sand, khaki, and chocolate browns blended rather than a single flat tan. Rarity: Extraordinary, so it is never treated as bulk filler in unbox chatter or drop tables. Float spans 0.06–0.80, covering lightly marked field wear through heavily worn; that wide band is normal for the item, not a bug.

At lower wear, the multi-tone brown layers and subtle camo print stay readable—close to what official copy describes. As float climbs, patina, scuffs, and color drift take over; two “same” Arids can look noticeably different, which matters if you care about pattern placement on the knuckles and back of the hand. Extraordinary tier also keeps long-term discussion steady: not hype-of-the-week, but never forgotten either.

Why collectors look at it

Inspect in-game before you commit. Thumbnails lie on gloves; what you want is how the camo lands on the fingers and whether the wear pattern matches your taste. If you like a clean, showroom pair, hunt the lower end of the float range. If you embrace battle scars, higher wear can sell the “field-used camo” fantasy better than a pristine copy.

As a 2016 Glove Case pool member, Arid stays restrained next to neon finishes. Pair it with desert tans, olive drab, or muted assault rifles and SMGs and your inventory reads cohesive instead of rainbow. Many players treat it as a daily driver glove: understated in clutch moments, still unmistakably Sport Gloves when the camera pushes in.
