Introduction
Shop verdict
Worth it if you want a cheap Nuke collection piece, you are opening old Major souvenir packs anyway, or you like hazard-stripe vibes on a shotgun you rarely equip.
Skip or be picky if you need the warning blocks intact—high wear turns this into muddy brown plastic. For a “display” float, budget a few extra cents for Factory New / Minimal Wear and always inspect.
What you are buying
Valve’s in-house sp_nukestripe_brown finish (not a Workshop pick) landed with the Arms Deal drop on 14 Aug 2013, bundled with the Nuke collection. Normal rarity keeps listing pressure low; it reads as “industrial warning tape” more than flashy flex.
Float window: 0.06–0.8. That upper cap is brutal for a pattern that lives on flat surfaces.
Supply: collection vs souvenir roulette
Direct path: Nuke collection drops and trades.
Souvenir path: Nuke-themed Major souvenir packages from ESL One Cologne 2014, DreamHack 2014, ESL One Katowice 2015, MLG Columbus 2016, Cologne 2016, Atlanta 2017, Kraków 2017, and Boston 2018. Which pack is “live” depends on what is listed on Steam Market or C5GAME this week—not one static crate.
Money tip: Compare souvenir pack pricing vs a targeted MW/FN listing. For Normal tier, pack chasing rarely beats buying the skin outright unless you want the rest of the pull table.
Inspect & wear (the part that matters)
In-game inspect is non-negotiable:
- Low wear: hazard yellow/black blocks stay readable; edges stay sharp.
- Mid wear: stripe edges soften; base brown starts winning.
- High wear (toward 0.8): the “radiation warning” story collapses—more scuffed tool than signage.
MAG-7 body panels are small but unforgiving; pattern placement shifts feel louder than on rifles. If a listing screenshot looks clean but inspect shows a chewed corner, walk away.
Expert mutterings
Normal Nuke fillers are the unsung paperwork of collection completion—nobody streams unboxing them, everyone wants the set badge. Irradiated Alert is honest about what it is: Valve factory signage, not community art contest winner.
I keep one MW in a Nuke-themed loadout for meme value; I would not overpay for FN unless the pattern alignment is genuinely clean in inspect. When in doubt, Steam Market for instant buy, C5GAME when you are price-matching CNY listings or hunting bulk MW listings.
Bottom line: bargain entry to Nuke lore; not an investment skin. Buy low wear or buy guilt-free high wear—avoid the awkward middle where you paid for a warning label that already faded.
