Introduction
Sawed-Off | Yorick (finish gs_sawedoff_necromancer) is one of those Revolver Case skins you spot instantly: skull patterning across the body, warm gold that reads hand-brushed rather than flat decal work. Rare tier, full float 0.0–1.0—Factory New through Battle-Scarred all exist in the wild. If you’re finishing the Revolver collection, building a cheap shotgun vibe, or you just want theatrical retro energy on a short model, it’s worth a dedicated search on C5GAME or the Steam Market instead of impulse-buying the first listing.
Drop & lineage
Shipped December 8, 2015 with Valve’s winter update—the same push that brought the Revolver Case and its skin batch. Yorick landed with that case, not as a stray drop from nowhere.
Workshop credit goes to Marduk (entry: Sawed-off | Yorick). The in-game line pushes skull imagery and tactile, crafted texture over minimal color blocking—visible in both the official blurb and how the gun reads in inspect.
Source: Revolver Case, filed under the Revolver Case collection. Filter by that collection when you’re unboxing, trading up, or hunting duplicates.
What you’re actually buying
Gunsmith finish. Valve’s copy: “This weapon has been decorated with skull motifs and hand-painted gold tones.” Up close you get light–shadow on the gold; at range it’s a warm, aged metal-versus-bone contrast. Gunsmith skins live on maps and materials— as float climbs, edges and raised paint go darker and grubbier; gold shifts from glossy to dull, and skull linework softens or breaks up by wear tier.
Flavor line: “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern never had a chance…”—dry, a little cruel, fits the jester/skull naming. Nice to keep in mind if you’re curating a showcase loadout.
Inspect & wear
Before you pay, inspect on C5GAME or Steam and compare floats side by side:
- Low wear: gold reads more “painted,” skull edges stay crisp.
- High wear: battlefield patina, “dirty gunsmith” crowd eats this up.
The Sawed-Off silhouette is stubby; skull and gold sit mid-body, so both first- and third-person get decent real estate without screaming. Rare means it’s usually easier to source than Covert lottery pulls—practical looks for the collection slot, not a trophy you never equip.
Shop verdict
Worth it if you want Revolver Case completion, a readable gunsmith shotgun under Covert money, or a moody gold/skull piece that still works in casual matches. Skip or go BS budget if you only chase meta skins or need loud float-flex; this is character, not status flex.
Price habit: sort by wear tier, open inspect, then compare C5GAME vs Steam fees and listing freshness—duplicate FN listings often hide a better FT/ MW value.
Editor’s aside
I keep one Field-Tested copy for meme stacks and a cleaner Minimal Wear for screenshots—the skull detail dies faster than you’d think once the gold muds out. The flavor text is half the personality; don’t sleep on it when you name your loadout. Revolver Case rares age well: not hype-bait, but Yorick still wins “what’s that shotgun?” in wingman lobbies.
