Gloves rarely stay "just cosmetics" in Counter-Strike—they anchor your entire color story. Slingshot keeps the naming blunt: no lore dump, which is actually good for buyers who care about the in-game mesh, how wear eats the pattern, and whether the pair plays nice with your rifle or AWPer setup. Ancient rarity puts it in the upper shelf of the glove meta: fine as a flex piece or as the fixed wrist slot in a main loadout.

Release

December 3, 2020—Operation Broken Fang. Slingshot entered the Sport Gloves pool alongside that operation's broader skin wave. Third-party timelines (C5GAME, HLTV, Skin.Land) agree on the date; if you lived through Broken Fang's market, this pair is one of the Sport Gloves names from that drop.

Designer

Valve, not a Workshop pick. That matters when you're comparing vibes: Slingshot follows Valve's glove-line planning, not a one-off community winner that might feel disconnected from other Sport Gloves.

Skin basics

• Type: Gloves → Sport Gloves
• Internal ID: sporty_slingshot
• Rarity: Ancient
• Float: 0.06 – 0.80 (wide window—low end starts at 0.06, high wear can push toward 0.80)

Same skin name, very different faces depending on float. Budget time for comparisons, not just a single thumbnail.

What to look at in inspect

Official copy stays minimal; your purchase decision should come from your inspect pass: spin the model in-game, check pattern placement on both hands, and see how scuffs progress left vs. right. Cross-check live screenshots at the wear tier you're targeting—one store preview is never enough.

The "Slingshot" label nudges a light, athletic read. If you're hunting ancient Sport Gloves or need a wrist focal point for an existing loadout, Slingshot belongs on a short list—then slow-roll the float hunt.

Shopping verdict

Worth considering if you want ancient-tier Sport Gloves with Broken Fang pedigree and you're willing to shop by float. Skip or wait if you need a tight, predictable look at mid wear without comparing many listings—the 0.06–0.80 spread makes lazy buys risky.

Expert notes

• Treat both hands separately in inspect; glove wear asymmetry surprises people who only check one side.
• Valve in-house design → easier to reason about long-term "set cohesion" with other official glove drops.
• For resell liquidity, ancient Sport Gloves move on hype and float; document your exact float before you list.
