Valve's October 9 update cuts AUG reload time by half a second, adds a defuse kit icon, and fixes silent Deagle reload audio and demo background hum. Here's what it means for your matches.
Player's Notes: October 9 CS2 Update
Match Impact
The AUG reload is now half a second faster. That's not a full rework, but in a post-plant or after a trade, that half-second can be the difference between holding an angle and getting swung. If you're an AUG user, you'll feel it most in mid-round rotations where you're topping up before a retake. It doesn't change the gun's role, but it does make it slightly more forgiving when you're caught with your pants down.
The new icon for dropped defuse kits is a small but real quality-of-life change. In chaotic retakes, scanning the floor for a kit just got easier. No more voice comms asking "where's the kit?" — you can spot it at a glance.
Feel and Settings
Valve also fixed the silent Desert Eagle reload sound event. If you relied on audio cues to time a push after a Deagle reload, that's now consistent. No more guessing whether the Deagle is ready.
Demo viewers: the humming background noise is gone. If you review demos for strats or content, this makes the experience much cleaner. No need to mute and lose game audio.
Rush map geometry fixes continue. If you play Rush, check your usual angles — some pixel gaps or boost spots may have changed. Worth a quick run-through in a private lobby before you queue.
Should You Change Settings?
Not really. The AUG buff is passive — just keep using it if you already do. The Deagle audio fix might make you more confident in clutch situations, but no setting changes are needed.
